Take Ueyama will be in residence Wednesday, September 9 – Saturday, September 11, 2021.

As part of THD’s Professional Dance Residencies program, Takehire “Take” Ueyama will be in residence for four days this fall, to provide five dance master classes plus an open rehearsal,for dance majors. Ueyama was a member of the Paul Taylor Dance Company for eight years, creating his first choreographic work on the company in 2003. Since then, he has earned accolades including the Jadin Wong Award for Emerging Asian American Choreographers, as well as awards from the International Modern Dance Choreographic Competition and the S & R Foundation. Of his work “Salaryman” The New Yorker described it as “a day-in-the-life piece, consisting of vignettes drawn from interviews with overworked Japanese business executives. City sounds and metronomes tick off the emotional costs of corporate culture.” Zodiaque Dance Company will perform excerpts from “Salaryman” as part of its fall program on October 17 & 18, 2021. The performance will also be streamed on Oct. 28, 2021.
