Founded in 1977, Dancers Workshop is an annual student-run showcase led by UB Dance majors, extending to all undergraduates, for a unique dance show experience. The 47th installment includes work from a substantial cohort of choreographers working with a sizable cast of dancers in a variety of styles. Dancers Workshop is a fun way to celebrate diverse talent at UB beyond the Department of Theatre and Dance, and to commemorate the end of a successful year for all students.

MEET THE DIRECTORS

SHANNON BRIEN (Director & Choreographer) is a senior Dance major with a minor in Education from Ilion, New York. Throughout her time at UB, she has performed and choreographed in Emerging Choreographers Showcase, ChoreoLab, Dancers Workshop, along with many other events in the community (Lewiston Jazz Festival, Cathy Wendell Lista Showcase, and Fox Run at Orchard Park), as a way to share dance with others here in Buffalo. She is passionate about sharing this art with a multitude of people, and after graduation, Shannon plans on moving to New York City to continue dance in any capacity. She has found a love of choreographing and directing through her work on this year's production of Dancers Workshop. She thanks her friends for their endless support and encouragement during this process, and can’t wait for everyone to see the 48th annual Dancers Workshop!

LAUREN GUARNA (Director & Choreographer) is a junior BFA Dance major and Education minor. She is honored to say she is the junior ACDA Assistant as well as the Junior Assistant Dancers Workshop Director. Lauren grew up in Brewster, New York where she attended Seven Star School of Performing Arts since the age of two. She was given many opportunities growing up, including being a part of the USA Tap Team, where they traveled to Germany for the world tap championships. While at UB, Lauren has performed in many shows, such as Emerging Choreographers Showcase, ChoreoLab, Dancers Workshop, and Zodiaque. Along with performing, Lauren is very interested in Choreography and hopes to have many opportunities to pursue this love. Lauren is honored and excited to have been such a big part of this show as the assistant to Shannon Brien, and is excited to be the upcoming Director of Dancers Workshop 2026!

SARAH CHOWANIEC is a sophomore Dance major and has been dancing for 17 years. Before studying dance in college, she attended Elite Dance Company where she built a strong technical foundation, learned the importance of versatility, and developed confidence in herself as an artist. The lessons she learned there carried over into her current training and she is grateful for the EDC faculty for successfully preparing her for college dance! In her two years at the University at Buffalo, she has performed in Emerging Choreographers Showcase, ChoreoLab, MFA Showcase and Thesis, and Zodiaque Dance Company. Sarah is excited to perform in her second Dancers Workshop, and is especially excited to have set a piece alongside Ella Hankinson. She looks forward to continuing her choreographic journey and sharing her passion for dance with the Buffalo community.

SOPHIA CLUTE, originally from Saratoga Springs, NY, is currently pursuing both a BA in Dance and BA in Psychology. Throughout her time in the UB dance program, she has performed in departmental productions including Emerging Choreographers Showcase, ChoreoLab and Dancers Workshop. Sophia is involved in her community in other ways as well, including her position as Student Assistant to the Director of Undergraduate Dance, teaching dance at a local studio, working as a research assistant for the Self and Motivation Lab, and as a member of the Psi Chi International Psychology Honor Society. She is filled with gratitude to have choreographed for this production and to have worked with such a stunning cast.

ERINN COSGROVE is a sophomore BFA Dance and BA Communication double major from Syracuse, NY. She is a member of Zodiaque Dance Company and has performed in many departmental productions, including The Pajama Game, Choreolab, Emerging Choreographers Showcase, and the MFA Dance Thesis concert. Erinn is grateful for the opportunity to share her first piece, co-choreographed with her best friend, and wants to thank her wonderful cast for making Dancers Workshop so much fun!

ERIN DEVINE is a sophomore pursuing her BA in Dance. Erin is thrilled to be choreographing alongside her partner Violet for this year’s Dancers Workshop. Together, they’ve created a bold and sassy jazz piece set to “Joyride” by Kesha. Titled Joyride, their choreography captures high-energy movement and fierce attitude. Erin can’t wait for you all to see their talented cast light up the stage!

NATHAN ECK is a junior Dance major at UB from Long Island, New York. His passion for dance began at a young age, when he began training competitively at Legacy Dance Center. He then went on to study at Long Island High School for the Arts. He has trained with American Ballet Theatre, Joffrey Spectrum, Entity Contemporary Dance, and Instincts by Theresa Stone. Nathan has performed as the Prince in the American Academy of Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker, as well as on several competitive national dance teams. Additionally, he was a featured dancer in Starring Buffalo’s production of Grease. Dancing at the University at Buffalo has propelled his versatility and fueled his ambition to dance professionally. Nathan is a member of Zodiaque Dance Company and is an Assistant to the ZDC Directors for the 2025-2026 season. Over the past year, he has had the privilege of being the Social Media Intern for Zodiaque Dance Company, networking with alumni and collaborating with the Directors to boost anticipation online for the 50th Anniversary Gala. Nathan is very grateful to continue dancing and choreographing.

ISABELLA GUERRUCCI is excited to be choreographing for her 2nd time in Dancers Workshop! She is a senior Dance major from Lewiston, NY. Throughout her time at UB Dance, she has performed in ChoreoLab, ChoreoLab Informal, Emerging Choreographers Showcase, MFA Dance Thesis Concert, MFA Dance Showcase, and Dancers Workshop. Isabella had the opportunity to serve as one of the Student Assistants to the Director for ECS and ChoreoLab this school year. She also became the first recipient of the Renee Connors-Wilkins & Brian Wilkins Dance Education Award. Outside of school, she has performed with Starring Buffalo, Devi Bollywood, and the Greater Niagara Ballet Company where she debuted as a principal dancer for her role of Snow Queen in The Nutcracker. She also teaches for GNBC, Lewiston Dance Center, and Teal’s Niagara Theatre. After graduation, Isabella plans to continue teaching and performing throughout Western New York.

ELLA HANKINSON is a sophomore from Buffalo, NY pursuing a BFA in Dance and a BA in Communication. She currently serves as the sophomore class representative. Ella has performed in several shows here at UB, including ChoreoLab, Emerging Choreographers Showcase, and Dancers Workshop. She is thrilled to be presenting her first choreographic work with Sarah Chowaniec.

JENNA HARTKE is a junior Dance major, acquiring her BFA here at UB. She is the current UB Dance Merch Representative and loves being a part of this incredible community. Jenna was born in Houston, Texas, but spent the majority of her life living in Orchard Park, New York. Growing up, she trained at Mary Alice’s Dance Studio. It was here that she found her love for dance, knowing it would be the passion that fuels the rest of her life. Her dance teachers and family’s support allowed her dream to seem attainable and worth running after. Without them, Jenna would not be where she is today. Since being at UB, she continues her training in jazz, modern, ballet, and tap. Jenna’s strong love for movement, along with her individual artistry, has shaped her into the person she is today.

KENNY DEANGELO HARRISON is a Senior Dance BA major. Kenny is from Bronx, NY and came to UB to not only pursue his dream of getting his undergraduate degree in Dance, but also to claim all opportunities that come his way. He has a strong passion for performing, as well as meeting new people and networking with others in the dance world. Kenny finds his inspiration for choreography from personal and real experiences. He enjoys creating choreography that reflects narrative and storytelling. During his time at UB, Kenny has performed in many department shows, such as Emerging Choreographers Showcase, MFA Dance Showcase, ChoreoLab, as well as being a part of the ZDC 2024-2025 season. He has also performed and choreographed for Dancers Workshop, and is now proud to be back to choreograph one last time! After graduating in May 2025, Kenny hopes to follow his dreams of performing around the world, exchanging knowledge and movement vocabulary with whomever he meets along the way!

JULIANA HASSOUNA is a senior BFA Dance and BA Communication double major from Bridgewater, New Jersey. She is a proud member of Zodiaque Dance Company, and is a current Assistant to the ZDC Directors. Juliana has also choreographed for ChoreoLab, Emerging Choreographers Showcase, and Dancers Workshop, and her work has been brought to the American College Dance Association and the first annual Intermix Choreography Showcase. Juliana has trained at a competitive dance studio, in addition to attending a performing arts high school, and her love for dance has continued to grow here at UB. She is so grateful for her time here, and to be a part of her last Dancers Workshop show!

MACKENZIE LEONE is a sophomore pursuing her BFA in Dance and BA in Psychology at UB. She has performed in many departmental productions, including MFA Dance Thesis, ChoreoLab, and Emerging Choreographers Showcase. She is thrilled to be making her collegiate choreographic debut with Erinn Cosgrove in Dancers Workshop. Mackenzie grew up in Syracuse, NY where she found her love for dance at a young age. Her passion for performing and modern dance is present every time she walks on stage. Mackenzie thanks her friends, family, and professors who have guided her throughout the years.

MARIO LIGUORI is a current Junior at UB majoring in Dance and Psychology. He is a member of the Honors College and is a collegiate ambassador for the College of Arts and Sciences. Mario has performed in many shows at UB, including being a second year member of Zodiaque Dance Company. Recently, Mario was a student choreographer for Choreolab this spring, where he presented his first professional piece. Mario is thrilled to be choreographing for DW. He thanks his family, friends, and amazing cast for their help along his journey.

OLIVIA LOPEZ is a senior at the University at Buffalo, pursuing a dual degree in Dance, BA, and Business Administration, BS, with a Marketing concentration. Training at the Alvin Ailey Junior Division Program allowed Lopez to find expressiveness in Graham, Horton, and Limón techniques while studying ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop and West African dance styles. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, she has worked with numerous choreographers, including Jesse Obremski, Jacqulyn Buglisi, and Earl Mosley. Her performances and works in other departmental shows include being a three-year member of the Zodiaque Dance Company, ChoreoLab, Dancers Workshop, and Emerging Choreographers Showcase. She has participated in ACDA throughout her time in UB Dance, bringing her own choreographic work to the ACDA Northwest Conference and UB Celebration of Student Academic Excellence this academic year! She expands her pedagogy by teaching and choreographing modern at the Royal Academy of Ballet. Lopez is the department’s Senior Social Media Intern for UB Dance social media platforms. GIA MARESCA is a senior BA Dance major from Long Island, NY. Throughout her time in the UB Dance Department, she has had the opportunity to choreograph and perform in various shows, including Emerging Choreographers Showcase, ChoreoLab, and Dancers Workshop. She is also the Senior ACDA Student Representative. Gia’s studies in Modern, Jazz, and Contemporary dance have given her a rich vocabulary to create a piece that’s exciting, fun, and entertaining. GABI MARSHALL is a senior earning her BFA in Dance, originally from Bluffton, South Carolina. She holds the position of Senior Class Representative and has been a member of the Zodiaque Dance Company for 3 years. She has also performed in other departmental shows, including Emerging Choreographers Showcase, Choreolab, and Dancers Workshop. She started dancing when she was 3 years old, beginning with Latin/ballroom, and then moving into various styles at Bluffton School of Dance. After her first ballroom showcase, she fell in love with dance. Only after a virtual tour and audition, she chose the University at Buffalo to be her home for the next 4 years. The past couple of years have flown by and have been filled with many memories made and lessons learned. Gabi is eternally grateful for her family and friends' love and support throughout her journey. She is honored to be the choreographer for her class's Senior dance!

ARIANA MULLIN is a current senior BFA Dance major at UB. She is also double majoring in Exercise Science on a Pre-health track. Throughout her time at UB she has performed in many departmental shows. Nurturing her love for choreographing, she has previously choreographed for Emerging Choreographers Showcase, Dancers Workshop, the Informal Showcase, and directed several independent dance films. Ariana has recently performed in the Buffalo community with Starring Buffalo, Historic Palace Theater, and at the Lewiston Jazz Festival. Ariana is excited to share Alien Invasion, performed by her masterful acrobatic cast.

ALEXA NANFRO is a BFA Dance and BA Psychology double major from Brooklyn, New York. Throughout her time at UB, she’s had the chance to pursue her interests both on and off stage, taking advantage of the program's versatile opportunities. Alexa has been a member of the Zodiaque Dance Company for 3 years, and has performed in many other shows including ChoreoLab, Emerging Choreographers Showcase, and Dancers Workshop. She has also had the privilege of working at Oishei Children’s Hospital, where she combined her passions for dance and mental health care. Upon graduation, Alexa is moving to Northern Virginia where she will be earning her MSEd in Counseling. While continuing her academic studies, she plans to remain deeply involved in the dance community as a teacher, choreographer, and performer. ARIANA PARSONS is in her junior year as a Dance major, obtaining her BFA here at UB. Ariana holds the positions of junior Class Representative and upcoming Social Media Intern for the Dance Department. She grew up dancing in Rome, New York where she has lived her entire life. Ariana danced at Susan Hasty’s School of Dance from age four until graduating high school. This is where she trained and formed her love for the art of dance. Ariana has performed and choreographed in DW for the past three years. She has also performed in other dance productions at UB, including Emerging Choreographers Showcase, ChoreoLAb, MFA, and Zodiaque Dance Company. Ariana is excited to showcase her piece this year with her amazing cast of dancers.

SELENA PEREYRA is a junior Dance and Psychology major and a Presidential Scholar in the Honors Program at the University at Buffalo. For the past two years she has served as the Student Assistant to the Director of Emerging Choreographers Showcase/ChoreoLab. Growing up in Westhampton Beach, New York, she trained at Peconic Ballet Theater in many styles, including ballet, jazz, hip-hop, tap, musical theater, character, modern, and contemporary. For the past two summers she has traveled to Guatemala with JUNTOS, an organization that works with dance volunteers to provide dance workshops and performances in underserved communities. She has had the honor to perform in the Emerging Choreographers Showcase, ChoreoLab, Spring into Art, Cathy Wendell Lista Showcase, Lewiston Jazz Festival, and Dancers Workshop during her last two years in Buffalo, and is the 2024 and 2025 recipient of the Lucille and Jack Yellen Award. This year she received a grant to bring dance performances to Fox Run Independent Living Community, and hopes to expand opportunities for UB dancers to perform for diverse audiences off campus. She recently choreographed a piece for ChoreoLab, and is excited to be choreographing for Dancers Workshop as well!

KELLY QUINN, also known as KQ, is a Detroit-born choreographer and dancer currently based in Buffalo, NY. They are pursuing a BA in Dance at the University at Buffalo and will graduate in Spring, 2025. KQ has worked alongside industry leaders like Todrick Hall, ONE UNITED, Michael Keefe, Whitney Bezzant, and Kyle Hanagami. A proud alum of Juliana’s Academy of Dance, KQ now serves as adjunct faculty, teaching and choreographing for the studio’s competitive and recreational programs. KQ also works for the DanceForceXpress family based in Michigan, judging and critiquing competition dance. Known for their dynamic ensemble work and diverse choreographic voice, Kelly is thrilled to be a part of this show and to continue inspiring dancers of all ages.

VIOLET SCHRAVER is a sophomore from Rochester, NY, pursing a BFA in Dance, and a minor in Law. She has performed in several shows during her time at UB, such as Zodiaque Dance Company, ChoreoLab, Emerging Choreographers Showcase, and Dancers Workshop. Violet was extensively trained in numerous styles at Fitzsimmons Dance Factory. She is excited to share the jazz choreography she created alongside Erin Devine at this year’s Dancers Workshop showcase.

KIRA SETHI is a junior BA Dance and BS Architecture major from Long Island, NY. She has performed in Emerging Choreographers Showcase, Choreolab, and Dancers Workshop. She is so excited to present her first choreographic work, and is thankful to her dancers for making her idea come to life. She would like to thank her wonderful family and friends for inspiring this piece.

MADDIE SIPOWICZ is a senior Dance major with a double major in Environmental Sustainability at the University at Buffalo. Throughout her years at UB, she has had the honor to perform in Emerging Choreographers Showcase, ChoreoLab, MFA Dance Showcase and Thesis, and Dancers Workshop. After graduation, she plans to get her master’s degree in Environmental Conservation at the University of Siena in Italy, and plans to teach dance overseas. Maddie is thrilled to share her first choreographic piece in Dancers Workshop, and thanks her wonderful cast, family, and friends for the endless support throughout this process.

HAYLEY TIMBERLAKE is a senior BA Dance major, participating as both a performer and choreographer in her last Dancers Workshop. She has trained for over 20 years in a variety of different dance styles. 16 of those years being at Little Red Dance Studio in Rochester, NY where she gained valuable performing and teaching experience. Over the past four years at the University at Buffalo Hayley has been in numerous pieces and productions, including Emerging Choreographers Showcase, ChoreoLab and MFA Dance Thesis. She is honored and thrilled to be able to share her love of dance and creativity in her final Dancers Workshop Showcase.

FALLON TUHOLSKI is a senior Dance BA and Criminology BA double major, from right here in Williamsville, NY. This year, she has taken on three student assistant roles of Zodiaque Student Assistant, Director of Undergraduate Studies THD Student Assistant, and Recruitment Student Assistant. This is her third year choreographing from Dancers Workshop, and throughout her time at UB she has also performed in other departmental shows, such as Emerging Choreographers Showcase, MFA Dance Showcase, Choreolab, and Dancers Workshop. She has been dancing since the age of 2, spending most of her years dancing at Spezio’s Dance Dynamics under the direction of Michelle Spezio. Since coming to college, Fallon has found her true love and passion for dance through the UB dance faculty and community. Fallon would like to thank her mom, as well as her amazing teachers and friends, all of whom have supported her throughout her dance journey! She is honored to be a part of this breathtaking show!

ADRIANA VETCHA is a junior at the University at Buffalo, pursuing a BFA in Dance. Originally from Rockland County, New York, she discovered her passion for dance at age 11 during her first Ballet class, which led her to explore various styles, including Modern, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, Musical Theatre, and Arco. She received extensive training at the Edge Dance Company in NJ, Steeltoes Dance in NY, Broadway Dance Center, and the Joffrey Ballet School. While at UB, Adriana has performed in Emerging Choreographers Showcase, MFA Dance Showcase, Choreolab, MFA Dance Thesis, Dancers Workshop, and Zodiaque. In addition to performing, she's also had the chance to choreograph for the 47th Dancers Workshop last year, and now for the 48th Anniversary Show. Adriana is inspired to continue creating for future productions and cannot wait to see her amazing cast perform Thule. Adriana is so excited for the show and very proud of her cast for bringing her vision to life. Enjoy the show!

GRACE WYTHE is a junior BFA Dance major, participating as both a performer and choreographer in her third Dancers Workshop Showcase. She has trained extensively in a wide range of dance styles for the past 17 years at various studios, including Janet Dunstan’s Dance Academy and the Greater Niagara Ballet Company. Through these institutions, she has gained valuable experience performing, choreographing, and teaching. At the University at Buffalo, Grace has performed in numerous productions such as Emerging Choreographers Showcase, ChoreoLab, and Zodiaque Dance Company. She is thrilled to be part of another inspiring Dancers Workshop Showcase, celebrating the creativity and collaboration of the University at Buffalo community.

JOYCE CHENG (Stage Manager, Sound Board Operator) a senior from New York City, is pursuing a BFA Theatre Design & Technology with a concentration in Sound at the University at Buffalo. Her notable works at UB include serving as both a Sound Designer and Stage Manager for the Zodiaque Dance Company, and Stage Manager for Dancers Workshop. This is her second and last time working a DW production, and she is excited for everyone to enjoy the show! She would like to thank her family, friends, and mentors for supporting her. After graduation, Joyce will continue her sound journey at Carnegie Mellon University, pursuing a Master's Degree in Sound! LIAM DEYELL (Lighting Designer, Board Operator) (he/him) is currently a Sophomore Theatre BFA focusing in Stage Management and Lighting, with a minor in Dance. He has been in theater since he was about 9 years old, and recently worked on Zodiaque Spring ‘25 as the Stage Manager, and Ride The Cyclone as both an RASM and a Dresser here at UB. He is very excited to be a Lighting Designer for Dancers Workshop! LOWDEN FLOWER (Lighting Designer, Board Operator) is currently a Senior at the University at Buffalo, studying Theater Design/Technology. Lowden started his journey in high school working for various community theaters, when he found his passion for lighting design. Lowden has since designed several performances at UB, and will be pursuing a Masters Degree in Theatre Arts, Design at The University of Iowa this fall. Previous design credits include Ride The Cyclone (UBTHD), 9 to 5: The Musical (UBTHD), What the Constitution Means to Me (Axial Theater Co.), Zodiaque Dance Company ‘49 (UBTHD), and Outrage (UBTHD). JACKIE RENAUD (Sound Engineer, Technical Support) is a recent Niagara University graduate with a B.F.A. in Design and Production with a concentration in Technical Direction and Scenic Painting.
