· MICHAEL DEEB WEAVER
Michael Deeb Weaver (he/him) is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the University at Buffalo’s Dance program, where he co-directs Zodiaque Dance Company and teaches jazz, tap, and musical theatre dance. In addition to his academic work, Michael’s recent choreographic credits include Sweet Charity (Kavinoky Theatre – Artie Award nominee), Mamma Mia! and Merrily We Roll Along (Second Generation Theatre), and Grease and Sister Act (Starring Buffalo). He has served on faculty at Nazareth University, Dance Masters of America, the Chautauqua Institution, and at Steps on Broadway. An accomplished dancer and actor, Michael’s performance credits have taken him all over the world as a member of Actors’ Equity Association. He holds his BFA in Dance from the University at Buffalo, and he is proud to continue the long tradition of excellence in the UB Dance program.
· MADELINE DEMBOWSKI
Madeline Dembowski is a dynamic dancer, choreographer, and educator currently pursuing an MFA in Dance at the University at Buffalo and has trained in styles including contemporary, hip-hop, jazz, ballet, lyrical, modern, improvisation, and musical theatre. She currently serves as the student representative for NYSDEA. She has worked with and learned from renowned choreographers and companies such as Yoshito Sakuraba, Boston Dance Theater, Limon, and Gallim Company members, among many others. Madeline's professional performance experience includes DancesatMUCCC, Rochester Fringe Festival, Rochester Fashion Week, Urban Bush Women Site-Specific Work at the UB Art Gallery, Sotto Voce’s Opera Production Silk and Grit, Rochester’s 2024 & 2025 Cocktail Revival, and Anne Burnidge Dance at The Burchfield Penney. She was also a company member of the professional dance company Cat + the Coyote, based in Rochester, NY. Madeline has taught recreational and competitive students of all ages and abilities. She has received standout choreography awards for her work in the competitive dance industry across Western NY. Currently, Madeline teaches adult dance classes at Surge Dance Company for beginner to advanced levels. In her leisure time, she loves to explore nature, visit local coffee shops, and cook.
· JENNA HARTKE
Jenna Hartke is a senior dance major, acquiring her BFA here at UB. She is the current UB Dance merch representative as well as one of the recruitment assistants within the department. Jenna was born in Houston, Texas, but grew up in Orchard Park, New York for the majority of her life. Growing up, she trained at Mary Alice’s Dance Studio. This was where she found her love for dance and knew this would be the passion for the rest of her life. Her dance teachers and family’s support allowed her dream to seem attainable and worth running after. Without them, Jenna would not be where she is today. Since being at UB, she continues her training in jazz, modern, ballet, and tap. Her aspirations and love for choreography continue to grow within her artistic journey as well. Jenna’s strong love for movement along with her individual artistry has shaped her into the person she is today.
· KENDRA JONES
Kendra Jones is a junior BFA dance major from Queensbury, NY. Growing up, she trained in a variety of styles with Reality Dance Studio for ten years before transitioning to the University at Buffalo. She is currently an honors student, choreographer, and dancer at UB specializing in jazz, modern, contemporary, ballet, and tap. She has participated in various choreographic endeavors including the National Choreography Intensive with Regional Dance America as an emerging choreographer to hone her choreographic and directorial skills and prepare herself for a career as a choreographer. Kendra’s choreographic credits include competitive teams, university clubs, UB’s Choreographers Showcase, and musicals The Little Mermaid, Shrek, and The Wizard of Oz. She is also the vice president of UB Dance’s Choreography Club. Kendra is very grateful to have created her second collegiate work in ChoreoLab and plans on having her own company in the future.
· MARIO LIGUORI
Mario Liguori is currently a senior at the University at Buffalo with a double major in Dance and Psychology. He is a member of the Honors College and is a Collegiate Ambassador for the College of Arts and Sciences. He is a proud recipient of the Mr. Tom UB Jazz Dance Award this year. Mario recently performed with Zodiaque Dance Company, Lancaster Opera House's production of Crazy for You (Junior), and will be performing in Musicalfare's production of Hairspray this May. As a psychology major, he has studied a variety of topics including cognition, behavior analysis, and interpersonal relationships. His current studies in the Relationships in Social Contexts Lab inspire his newest work, "You". His creation of this narrative gives insight into three different relationships and how each dancer influences their partner, for better and for worse. Mario thanks his mentors, dancers, friends, and family for their guidance throughout this process!
· BETHANY MOORE
Bethany Moore is a graduate of UB’s Musical Theater program. Upon graduation, she toured North America and Japan with the national tours of Cats (25th Anniversary Tour) and A Chorus Line (First National Tour). She has been a part of the Original Broadway casts of Pippin (Tony-award winning revival) and Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark as well as the acclaimed Shakespeare in the Park’s production of Into the Woods (with Amy Adams and Donna Murphy). She holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Theater from NYU and has been teaching, directing and choreographing at Molloy University and Niagara University.
· ARIEL NERESON
Ariel Nereson is Associate Professor of Dance Studies at the University at Buffalo. She is the author of the award-winning book Democracy Moving: Bill T. Jones, Contemporary American Performance, and the Racial Past. Her scholarship has been widely published and her choreography has recently received funding from the Mellon Foundation. Ariel teaches across the graduate and undergraduate programs at UB. She is a practicing choreographer and dramaturg, and serves as Editor of Theatre Journal.

Adriana Vetcha is a senior earning her BFA in Dance at the University at Buffalo. During her time at UB, she has performed in Zodiaque, Emerging Choreographers Showcase, ChoreoLab, Dancer’s Workshop, the MFA Showcase, and MFA Thesis works, among others. Adriana has also had many opportunities to choreograph. This semester, she is choreographing for ChoreoLab alongside a peer to create a full-length piece, as well as presenting work in Dancer’s Workshop. She is also directing the 2026 Senior Showcase. Adriana would like to thank Jenna Zavrel for this incredible opportunity, as well as her cast and the entire production team for their support and collaboration throughout this amazing process.
· ALLY BALASH
Ally Balash is a dancer from Elmira Heights, New York and a current freshman dance major at the University at Buffalo. She has trained at Dance Force Studio for the past fifteen years in Elmira, New York. During her time there, Ally was a part of the competition team and was able to assist for her teachers and teach some of the classes. Along with taking classes at her studio, she was able to take master classes with professional dancers through the competition's convention classes. This studio offered many performance opportunities. Ally is very grateful and excited to be performing in another production with the UB Dance Department.
· REBEKAH BONO
Rebekah Bono is a dance educator, performer, choreographer, and administrator, and an MFA candidate at the University at Buffalo. With over 15 years of teaching experience, she has served as an adjunct professor at Mary Baldwin University and as Lead Faculty in tap, jazz, hip hop, modern/contemporary, and ballet at Cora Dance in Brooklyn and Valley Dance Theatre in Virginia. She currently teaches technique courses at UB and is on faculty at Elite Dance Company. Rebekah has performed across the East Coast with Soul Steps and Shannon Hummel/Cora Dance. Her work in dance education and choreography centers on creativity, storytelling, discipline, and building meaningful relationships through movement.
· MARJIE CHARLES
Marjie is from Bluffton, South Carolina and she has been dancing for 12 years. She is currently a sophomore pursuing a double major, earning a BFA in Dance and a BA in Criminology. She has trained in a variety of styles, especially taking an interest in jazz. She plans on pursuing a professional career in commercial dance and values movement as a powerful form of expression. Marjie is excited to be performing in her 2nd Choreo Lab and looks forward to her next two years at UB, continuing to grow as both a dancer and artist.
· ALYVIA CHRISTENSEN
Alyvia Christensen is an MFA Dance candidate at the University at Buffalo and is thrilled to be part of ChoreoLab this semester. She is a multidisciplinary dancer, choreographer, and teacher whose work spans concert dance and musical theatre. Alyvia’s choreographic credits include Mother of Ashes at the University at Buffalo as well as co-choreographing Company, Return to the Forbidden Planet and Rent at Niagara University. As a performer, Alyvia has appeared in Dancing in the Light III and Discovering Me, Embracing We at Niagara University.
· SOPHIA CLUTE
Sophia is a senior pursuing both a B.A in Dance and a B.A in Psychology. Throughout her time at UB, she has performed in Emerging Choreographers Showcase, Choreolab, Dancers Workshop, Starring Buffalo’s Young Frankenstein and at the Lewiston Jazz Festival. Erin Devine is a third-year undergraduate student pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Dance with a minor in Education. During her time at the University at Buffalo, she has performed in several productions, including Emerging Choreographers Showcase and Dancers Workshop. She teaches at Lewiston and Grand Island Dance Center, where she spends much of her time sharing her love of dance with her students and helping them grow in both confidence and technique. Erin is passionate about creating a positive and supportive environment where young dancers can develop not only as performers, but as individuals. After graduation, she plans to pursue a master’s degree in education and hopes to continue inspiring the next generation of dancers.
· KIKI DURANTE
Kiki Durante is a freshman dance major and communications major at the University at Buffalo. Prior to UB, Kiki trained at Perkins School of the Arts in Norwich, New York where she taught and performed. This past fall, Kiki made her UB Dance debut, performing in Choreographer’s Showcase. She is so excited to perform in Choreolab! She would like to thank her choreographers for the opportunity to be in their pieces.
· MADISON FIRMSTONE
Madison Firmstone is currently a first-year dance major at the University at Buffalo. Prior to UB, Madison trained at A Touch Dance Performing Arts Studio in Rochester, New York where she had various performance opportunities. This past fall, Madison made her UB Dance debut, performing in Choreographer's Showcase. She is extremely excited to perform in this year’s Choreolab! She would like to thank her choreographers for the opportunity to be performing in their pieces.
· MIA GANAPOLSKY
Mia Ganapolsky is a current BA Dance major at UB. Mia is from Brooklyn, NY. Collegiate debut at the UB choreographers showcase (2025). Prior to UB, she has done various performance/community service events, including Dance Against Cancer Gala Benefit at NYC Center (2024) choreographed by Frederick Earl Mosley, soloist in Lyrics for Life (2023) supporting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, is a member of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts. Mia received her training and degree at Fiorello H. LaGuardia of Music and Art & Performing Arts High School (NYC), Triple Threat Performing Arts Company, and Dance Molinari.
· MAKAYLA GARRETT
Makayla Garrett is a dancer from Baldwinsville, NY, who has trained in dance for 11 years. Makayla is now a sophomore at the University at Buffalo earning her BFA in dance and BA in criminology. She trains in various styles, including ballet, jazz, modern, and tap. She is beyond excited to continue her dance journey and contribute to her college’s dance community.
· RACHEL HUNT
Rachel Hunt is a junior BFA Dance Major. She grew up competing and studying an array of styles such as ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, contemporary, and hip hop at Glen Dance Studio in Long Island New York, where she also has the privilege to now teach when she is home. Rachel has performed in department shows such as Emerging Choreographers Showcase, The MFA Showcase, and Dancer's workshop. Rachel is thrilled to be a part of ChoreoLab once again and is excited to perform!
· LAUREN JEZIORO
Lauren Jezioro is pursuing a Dance BFA and Mathematics BS degree at the University at Buffalo. She trained at Fitzsimmons Dance Factory for most of her years, notably under the mentorship of Lauri Lucas, Michael Keefe, and Chantel Aguirre. As an aspiring commercial dancer, Lauren is so excited for this year’s Choreolab concert and is very thankful for all the support from her mentors, peers, and family.
· CHARITY JOHN
Charity John is a dance educator, performer, choreographer, and dancer from Nigeria, currently a third-year MFA Dance candidate at the University at Buffalo with a concentration in African dances, Afro house, African jazz, and contemporary dance. She holds a BA in Theatre Arts from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, majoring in Dance and Acting with a minor in Speech and Rhetorical Arts. Her performance and choreographic credits span local and international stages. She has performed in Danscore (2023) and the Sankofa Dance Festival (2024) organized by SUNY Brockport, and was an invited guest artist for their Dance Awareness Days in 2025, later performing in the 2026 MFA Thesis Concert as a Narrator and dancer. At UB, she co-choreographed Black Tales for the MFA Showcase (2023, Fall) and contributed as a musician, vocalist, and dancer for the 49th and 50th Zodiaque Dance Company (Fall eds.), later returning as a choreographer for the 50th Spring edition. She served as Graduate Assistant for the 2024 Emerging Choreographers Showcase (Fall), where she also choreographed Vumani. Her work extends beyond the university. She has featured as a dancer and dance captain in an opera performance with Sotte Voce Company, choreographed by Kerry Ring and dancers; taught African dance with Peace of The City; and collaborated with Urban Bush Women. Within her time in the US, she has choreographed and performed in MFA thesis concerts as both dancer and storyteller, and taken on roles as Research, Graduate, and Teaching Assistant, these experiences that have enriched her creative process. Charity aims to share her knowledge and culture while building community through dance, theatre, and performance.
· SYLVIA LEONARD
Sylvia Leonard is a freshman Dance major and nutrition minor at the University at Buffalo from Hershey, Pennsylvania. She has trained at One Broadway Dance Academy for three out of her fifteen years of dancing. Throughout her time there, Sylvia was a part of the competition team and worked as an assistant for many of her teachers. She has also attended many intensives from companies such as Ground Grooves, Entity Contemporary Dance, and Broadway Dance Center. She can not wait to continue her love for dance and performance here at UB. Sylvia is beyond excited to be performing in her first production with the UB Dance Department!
· ANIYAH MUNGO
Aniyah Mungo is a 19-year-old student from Buffalo, New York. Currently pursuing her BA in Dance and double major in history. She is passionate about performing and enjoys expressing herself through movement. She is excited for opportunities to showcase her talents. She looks forward to continuing to grow, gain experience, and share her performances with new audiences.
· SAM MUSCATO
Sam Muscato is a dancer from Rochester, New York and is a freshman double major in Dance and Psychology at the University at Buffalo. She began her dance journey at Marilyn Schneider School of Dance, and continued there upon graduation. Sam trained in all styles including ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, acrobatics, and musical theatre. Throughout her training she has learned and trained from many choreographers, some including Joe Lanteri, Megahan Sanett, Suzi Taylor, and Derrick. Last semester she performed in Choreographer’s Showcase. Sam is very excited to perform in another show at UB.
· SHANNON NEPHEW
Shannon Nephew is a sophomore Dance BFA and Political Science BA dual major in the University at Buffalo Honors College. She is the Sophomore Class Representative for the dance program. Shannon has been dancing since she was three years old and in attendance at UB she has performed in the Emerging Choreographers Showcase, MFA Thesis Concert, ChoreoLab, and Dancers Workshop. Shannon would like to thank her castmates, choreographers, and the production team for the experiences she has gained through this show. Following undergrad, Shannon plans to attend law school to pursue a career to fight for dancer’s rights through legal avenues.
· SOPHIA PHAM
Sophia Pham is a sophomore double-majoring in Dance BA and Business Administration BS. She was born and raised in Rochester, NY. From the age of seven, Sophia trained in ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, lyrical, and hip-hop. Sophia has participated in many dance performances in her school's dance company, competition, concert, and for charity works for the Rochester community. This will be her second year participating in departmental shows such as Choreographers Showcase, Dancers Workshop, and ChoreoLab. Sophia is thrilled to share a stage with such talented dancers and thanks her family and friends for all their lovely support.
· KELLY ROOT
Kelly Root is a sophomore BFA Dance and BA Business major while also being an assistant to the recruitment coordinator for the UB Theatre and Dance Department. Kelly grew up dancing in Buffalo, NY and is now sharing her love for dance by teaching at two local studios, Dansations and Hoffmans. Previously, she has participated in Emerging Choreographer’s Showcase and Dancer’s Workshop at UB. Kelly would like to thank everyone that has made this show possible and everyone that has supported her along the way!
· LILLY SCHLEGEL
Lilly Schlegel is a sophomore, double majoring in BA Dance and BS Exercise Science. Originally from Buffalo, NY, she obtained her training at Lancaster Dance Center with her sisters since she was 3 years old. While Lilly loves all forms of dance, her true love is tap and jazz. She has also had the opportunity to perform in previous UB THD shows such as Dancer's Workshop (2025) and Choreographer's Showcase (2025). She is so excited to make her debut in Choreolab this semester and she is beyond grateful to perform with such amazing dancers and choreographers!
· KIRA SETHI
Kira Sethi is a senior dance and architecture major from Long Island, NY. She has performed in Emerging Choreographers Showcase, ChoreoLab, Dancers Workshop, and MFA Dance Thesis Concert throughout the past four years. She has choreographed for Dancers Workshop, Campus 2 Community, and the Informal ChoreoLab Showcase. Kira is so excited to have been the student assistant to the director for ChoreoLab this year. Kira would like to thank all the support from her friends, family, and the UB Dance department.
· AYLA SIMPSON
Ayla Simpson is a dancer from Herkimer, New York. She is a freshman dance major at the University of Buffalo. She has been dancing since the age of 2, and has studied various dance styles at Dancenter of Herkimer until graduation. Here at UB, she has been a part of Choreographers Showcase and is very excited to be a part of her second college show. She would like to thank her family and friends for their constant support.
· KAMRYN SKROCKI
Kamryn Skrocki is a dancer from Florida and a current freshman dance major at the University at Buffalo. She is also a part of the Honors College. She trained at New Dimensions Dance Academy for the past nine years in Oviedo, FL. Throughout her time there, Kamryn was a part of the competition team and worked as an assistant for her teachers. She also attended The Villages High School, where she has had many opportunities to both perform and choreograph for various shows each year. She has just made her UB Dance debut last fall as a performer in Choreographer’s Showcase and is thrilled to be a part of this year's ChoreoLab production!
· HANNAH SPENCER
Hannah Spencer is a freshman dance major at the University at Buffalo. Prior to coming to UB, Hannah trained at Steppin’ Out Dance Academy in West Seneca, NY, where she now teaches and assists. She is both a performer and choreographer. Her professional dance credits include backup dancing for Ava Max, Todrick Hall, Icona Pop, Nicky Youre and Now United. She performed in Choreographers Showcase last semester and is beyond excited to dance in ChoreoLab!
· HANNAH THURMAN
Hannah Thurman is a freshman Dance major and Early Childhood Education major at the University at Buffalo. Before committing to UB, Hannah trained for 15 years at Janet Dunstan's Dance Academy in Lewiston, New York. During her time at Janet Dunstan’s, Hannah worked as a class assistant, and currently substitutes for the studio. This past fall, she made her UB Dance debut in Choreographer’s Showcase. Hannah is looking forward to this performance, and all there is ahead of her in UB Dance!
· NICOLE YU
Nicole Yu is in her sophomore year as a dance major obtaining her BA in dance and minoring in Sociology at UB. She grew up in New York City starting out at The Brooklyn Dance Centers, which then led her to attend Ballet Tech and Fiorello H. Laguardia High School of Performing Arts majoring in Dance. She has always loved dancing and performing, and the UB dance major gives her amazing opportunities to grow and perform. She is so excited to be part of this year's production of Choreolab and cannot wait for more dancing to come!
· JESSAMY ZARRAGOITIA
Jessamy Zarragoitia grew up in Lancaster, New York, just outside the city of Buffalo, where she began her training at the age of 5 with Classical Ballet of Western New York under the direction of William Gentes and Susannah Dwyer. She expanded her training through summer intensives with schools such as the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and the Boston Ballet, among others. She danced as an apprentice for the Minnesota Ballet during the 2022-23 season and is currently studying dance and environmental studies at the University at Buffalo. Most recently, she has performed with Neglia Conservatory of Ballet, Onium Contemporary Ballet, and various UB productions. She is delighted to once again participate in Choreographers Lab for the 2026 Spring production season!
LIAM DEYELL (Lighting Designer) (he/him) is a Junior pursuing a BFA in Theatre Design/Technology in the UB Department of Theatre and Dance, with a focus in Stage Management and Lighting Design, and a minor in Dance. His recent credits include Stage Manager for ZDC Celebration 50 and Lighting Designer for Choreolab ‘25, Dancers Workshop, The Wolves, and the Choreographers Showcase here at UB. He is very excited to be working on both Choreolab ‘26 and Zodiaque this semester! Liam would like to thank his mentors, the cast, and the creative team for making this such a fun show!
FAITH MARSALA (Stage Manager) is in her first semester of her senior year as a BFA Theatre Design/Tech student and is excited to be stage managing UB’s production of ChoreoLab for the second time. Her involvement of this production follows her success in costume designing Urinetown last fall, and puppet designing Macbeth this semester. She would like to thank the cast, crew, and her mentor Ally Hasselback for their support. Finally, she would like to give a special thanks to her parents for supporting her throughout her college career. She hopes everyone enjoys UB’s production of ChoreoLab!
KATHLEEN ISAACS (Sound Engineer) is a junior Theatre and Sociology double major with a minor in Indigenous Studies. Her previous technical positions at UB include Light Board Operator for Zodiaque Dance Company's Fall 2025 Concert and Costume Shop Assistant for Zodiaque, Urinetown, and The Wolves. She recently made her acting debut as Karen in the Student Directed Series production of In The End of Times. Kathleen is grateful for the chance to explore all facets of theatre—from the booth to the stage—and thanks her family, friends, and professors for their continued support and encouragement.
LEO MUCK (QLab Programmer & Board Operator for Projections) is a freshman theater design and technology student. They are very excited to be working in another position like this, as the production season has always been an enjoyable time for them. After the fun they had of working on this production in projection programming, they hope to put on a great show for the audience.
THOMAS EIKEL (Lighting Programmer & Head Theatre Electrician) is a freshman in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, and is excited to be joining ChoreoLab as Head Electrician and Lighting Programmer.
JENNA ZAVREL (Director) is a Clinical Associate Professor of Dance at the University at Buffalo, with an MFA in dance from Florida State University, School of Dance. Jenna’s creative research emphasizes storytelling through the intersection of dance, technology, and sound score compilation. Jenna’s proscenium concert dance and screendance work have been featured in festivals both nationally and internationally spanning countries such as Cyprus, France, Argentina, Italy, Spain, Canada, Turkey, Japan, and across the United States. Jenna teaches ballet, contemporary styles, choreography, and dance on film at the University at Buffalo. It is a pleasure to serve as this season’s Artistic Director of ChoreoLab.

The UB Department of Theatre and Dance is honored to dedicate its 2025–2026 production season to the memory of Professors Emeriti Saul Elkin and Vincent O’Neill, in recognition of their extraordinary contributions to the field of theatre and to our academic and artistic community.
Throughout their distinguished careers, Professors Elkin and O’Neill exemplified excellence in education, direction, and performance. Their
visionary leadership and steadfast commitment to the transformative power of theatre have shaped generations of artists and scholars, leaving a legacy that continues to inspire.
