    We are so pleased to announce that three highly qualified applicants were awarded the Rustgi South Asian Language Award to study in the American Institute of Indian Studies this coming summer! As it turns out, our remarkable UB students qualify for many prestigious postings and awards and just one student will be funded by our Rustgi Award. Here are their stories:
  • Call for Papers: 2019 Rustgi Undergraduate Conference on South Asia

    We present the second annual Rustgi Undergraduate Conference on South Asia by reflecting upon the rich history of South Asia, and its connection to present day conditions regarding culture and climate. We invite papers on the theme of “Exploring Culture, Climate, and Connections,” where climate may be interpreted broadly, whether in its social, political, or environmental sense. The conference will feature a keynote lecture from Suraj Yengde, award-winning scholar and activist from India.
  • UB Asian Studies Research Award Application Period Now Open!

    The Asian Studies Program invites UB College of Arts and Sciences, UB School of Architecture and Planning, and UB School of Social Work faculty and graduate students to apply for funding to support scholarly activity in or related to Asia. Requests for funding to support overseas research will be given priority. Requests to support attendance at an annual conference will be considered only for graduate students whose papers have already been accepted for a conference. All expenses must be incurred between July 1, 2019 and June 30, 2020. Please note: this funding opportunity is open only to UB College of Arts and Sciences, UB School of Architecture and Planning, and UB School of Social Work faculty and graduate students. Tenured members of the Asian Studies Program Executive Committee are not eligible for funding.
