Steven Diver has been selected as this year’s (2018-19) recipient of the Graduate School’s Excellence in Graduate Student Mentoring Award! The award recognizes truly exceptional faculty mentoring of graduate students at UB. Steve will be recognized at the upcoming Celebration of Faculty and Staff Excellence.

Prof. Luis Colón has been promoted to the rank of SUNY Distinguished Professor. The SUNY Distinguished Professorship is awarded to faculty who have achieved national and international prominence and a distinguished reputation in research and scholarship. In Luis’s case, the distinction recognizes his extensive and groundbreaking contributions in analytical chemistry and separations science, and his career-spanning achievements in mentoring and leadership. Commemorating the Women Heritage Month, the UB’s Department of Chemistry presents

Former colleague David Hangauer was selected as the 2021 Schoellkopf Medalist from the WNY section of the ACS. Dave was selected for his “visionary work on the discovery of cancer therapies and his entrepreneurial impact for the advancement of the pharmaceutical industry in the region.” Dave will be honored at the Schoellkopf Award banquet, which is tentatively scheduled for April 5, 2022. 

Mary McCourt, PhD alumna (1988), was awarded the 2020 WNYACS Schoellkopf medal … “in recognition of her pioneering contributions to the development of drug delivery methods for the treatment of breast cancer, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s disease, and for her outstanding dedication to teaching and mentoring.”  Mary will be honored at the Schoellkopf award banquet, tentatively planned for April 5, 2022.
