Yige Dong received a 2021 early career fellowship from the American Council of Learned Studies (ACLS) Luce program for China Studies.

Yige Dong, assistant professor of Sociology and Global Gender and Sexuality Studies, has been named an early career fellow by the ACLS. This program, made possible by the Henry Luce Foundation and the National Endowment for the Humanities, supports the vitality of China Studies in the United States and Canada. Prof. Dong’s primary research interest lies at the intersection of political economy, social inequality, and social change; and she has examined labor and feminist movements in China. 

With the support of this fellowship, Professor Dong will continue working on an upcoming book project: The Fabric of Care: Women’s Work and the Politics of Livelihood in A Chinese Mill Town.
