The American Association for the History of Medicine awarded Yan Liu the William H. Welch Medal for his recently published book, “Healing with Poisons: Potent Medicines in Medieval China .” Liu, an associate professor in the Department of History, received his award at the meeting of the American Association for the History of Medicine, in Ann Arbor, Michigan this past May.
The William H. Welch Medal is awarded to one or more authors of a book (excluding edited volumes) of outstanding scholarly merit in the field of medical history published during the five calendar years preceding the award.
