In Memoriam - Dr Winston Chang

Dear Colleagues,

It is with sadness that I share with you that Winston Chang, professor in the Department of Economics, passed away on December 16, 2021.

Winston was a valued member of our community and the Department of Economics faculty. Winston’s remarkable career at UB started in 1967. Over the past 54 years, he made significant contributions as a scholar, a teacher, a mentor and a citizen of the College and University. In 2017, he received the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. He was also awarded the State University of New York Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.

We remember Winston as a dedicated educator who served as director for the department’s master’s degree program for many years. Over the course of an exceptional career, he published close to 80 papers, many of which appeared in major journals. Winston was a vibrant mind and will be sorely missed.

I extend my deepest condolences to Winston’s family, friends, students and colleagues. If you are interested in sending a message to the family, condolences can be emailed to Winston’s son, David at dchangmd@yahoo.com.

Take care,

Robin Schulze, Dean, UB College of Arts and Sciences
