Biological invasions are an integral part of global environmental change. Invasive species are impacting biodiversity, economies, and human health worldwide at unprecedented rates, capturing the popular imagination and fueling anxieties about runaway human-facilitated change. In the face of compounding impacts, costs, unintended consequences of mitigation, and a wide spectrum of stakeholder perceptions, we can reframe this crisis to match finite resources to well-reasoned action. Reflecting on insights from global scales and across disciplines, setting priorities in biological invasions becomes more tenable.
