The workshop was dedicated to the continued development of tephrochronology data systems to enable the global recognition of these time markers. Eighteen researchers from seven countries participated in fieldwork, talks, brainstorming, and contributing to a workshop white paper.
Center for Geological and Climate Hazards co-organized with the Department of Civil, Structural, and Environmental Engineering a lecture related to a book launch. Prof. Bruneau spoke about his new book “The Blessing of Disaster” which explores the lessons that catastrophes teach us and why our future depends on it. In addition, to help organize and promote the event, the center provided multiple copies of the book that were given to the audience.
