Soe is a PhD candidate in Global Gender and Sexuality Studies. Her research focuses on gender and democracy, where she will be doing her dissertation on women's activism in Burma (Myanmar). Soe's research interest includes gender-based violence, violence against minorities, and the women's movement in Burma.
Soe has been working in a non-profit organization as a social worker/case manager for the last 6 years. She enjoys helping people, especially vulnerable populations including refugees, the elderly, sexual and domestic violence survivors, LGBTQ+, and children and women.
Soe received a bachelor's degree in Sociology and a master's degree in Liberal Studies, focusing on gender and violence. Her master's project focused on violence and discrimination against transgender individuals.
