Impossible Project: End White Supremacy

Students from Rage Against the Machine (HIS419/550) and Machine Learning and Society (CSE 440/441/540) team up to end white supremacy drawing on strengths and insights from both disciplines. Using our innovative Impossible Project course link model, student teams apply a historical lens to their understanding of the way computing exacerbates the problem of white supremacy while also employing knowledge of historical resistance practices to reimagine computing technology for an anti-racist future. No topic could be more important in light of the recent racist massacre in Buffalo New York. Our students and their faculty are committed to building a just world. Come see how we plan to do it.

There will be ten 120 second presentations judged by our esteemed panel: Siwei Lyu (CSE, CII), Crystal lee (MIT), Phylicia Brown (BLRR).

JOIN us for presentations at 10am on May 8, 2023 in 25 O’Brian.

Light refreshments provided.
