Mourning the Loss of Gordon Gross

The Department of Jewish Thought has just received sad news about passing of Mr. Gordon Gross, LLB -- may his memory be a blessing. His philanthropic contributions strongly supported and helped bring to fruition the University at Buffalo vision of creating a nationally and internationally leading Department of Jewish Thought. His legacy of supporting the cutting edge scholarship on the role and importance of intellectual achievements of the Jewish tradition for the humanity at large continues to be exemplary and will have a lasting effect on the advancement of academic scholarship of Jewish Tradition.

I am saying "Baruch Dayan Ha-Emet" --Blessed be the True Judge, a rabbinic blessing to say on passing of a person, who, like Gordy, did, and with his legacy will continue to do, so abundant good for community.

On behalf of the department faculty,
