BA in Psychology, Minor in Counseling, UB;
MSW student, Social Work
I came to UB as a transfer student for my junior and senior years. I had an overall great experience. I took full advantage of all the activities and events put together by the Student Association and other clubs/organizations on campus year-round. I believe my UB psychology degree did an excellent job setting me up with the fundamentals that I needed to go onto work in the file of mental health/social services. I currently work at a psychiatric center as a social work assistant (level 3), and am enrolled in a Masters program in Social Work. My advice for students considering a degree in Psychology at UB is to take time and really understand the material being taught. You can do so much with this degree if you know how to apply the knowledge to different fields—it’s not a set track and everyone considering this degree should take full advantage of that.
