Buffalo Community Lab (Buff Comm-Lab)

Driven by a shared passion for social justice, a group of sociology students founded the Buffalo Community Lab (Buff Comm-Lab), a university-recognized organization dedicated to bridging the gap between UB and underserved Buffalo communities.

About Buff Comm-Lab

Founded by a group of passionate student change-makers in the Sociology department, the Buffalo Community Lab (Buff Comm-Lab) club is a university-recognized student organization aimed at bridging the gap between UB and institutionally neglected communities in Buffalo. The original Buffalo Community Laboratory proposal consisted of establishing a physical ‘Community Lab’ in Buffalo’s East Side to serve as a hub for students and residents to interact. The center sought to concentrate existing UB student-community engagement infrastructure, implement new student-community initiatives, and encourage UB academic departments to integrate social justice initiatives into curricula. The proposal morphed into an actionable student club focused on enacting meaningful change and tangibly assisting Buffalo's communities now, while keeping the vision of the Community Laboratory alive.
