DIRECTOR'S NOTE

Urinetown…the Musical…not the place…is an exciting endeavor. Set in a time of worldwide ecological devastation, you’d think that the show would be deadly serious in its approach. But it isn’t. It’s hilariously funny and is constantly winking at the audience with a knowing nod.

It also calls out the foibles of everyone from the government to the police, and to all social classes. Both the story and the characters are very straightforward and they are constantly pushing the limits of satire. And that satire extends to the overall genre of musical theater – keep an eye out for the not-so-subtle spoofing of some of your favorite Broadway classics.

Our team of student performers, designers, technicians and stage managers have collaborated to build this world, where nothing can be taken too seriously, if at all.

Silliness abounds here, so don’t be afraid to laugh along with us as we take you on a journey to Urinetown…the Musical…not the place. Seriously. You don’t want to go to the place.

- Doug Weyand, Director/Choreographer
