As the largest and wealthiest country in the European Union, Germany continues to expand its influence, making the language increasingly important in Europe and beyond.

Program offerings

UB's German Program offers comprehensive courses in German language, linguistics and culture. We provide three degree options tailored to fit your academic and professional goals:

  • German BA
  • German BA - German Language and Linguistics Concentration
  • Minor in German

  • GER 111: Elementary German 1st Semester (6 credits)
  • GER 112: Elementary German 2nd Semester (3 credits)
  • GER 151: Intermediate German I (3 credits)
  • GER 152: Intermediate German II (3 credits)
  • GER 301: Survey of German Cultural History I (3 credits)
  • GER 302: Survey of German Cultural History II (3 credits)
  • GER 337: Advanced Conversation and Composition (3 credits)
  • GER 408/608: Structure of Modern German Grammar (3 credits)
  • GER 415/515: History of the German Language (3 credits)
  • GER 420/520: Grimms' Fairy Tales (3 credits)
