The mission of the Department of Media Study is to conduct research and provide educational programs in film and media production as well as theory. Renowned for its pioneering contributions to the field, the department has expanded to encompass emerging practices in addition to our existing strengths in film and video production.

Experiential Learning

Our department’s experiential learning opportunities provide students with the chance to deepen their understanding of the world beyond the classroom.

  • Explore what makes you curious through a directed or independent study course
  • Spend time immersed in the media of other cultures and languages through a study abroad program
  • Intern locally or abroad with a gallery, broadcast station, media company or organization

Career-Focused

Our graduates have found success in film, video and broadcasting industries; in information-centric areas such as web design and video games; as well as emerging fields that require a combination of technical skills plus the ability to rapidly synthesize new information. Several exceptional graduates have won Academy Awards, Emmys, Clios and major film festival awards.
