About

Xingwang Qian is a Professor of Economics and Finance at Buffalo State University and an adjunct professor of Economics at the University at Buffalo. He holds a Ph.D. in International Economics from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a B.A. in Accounting from Nankai University in China.

His primary research interests lie in international finance. His work covers a broad range of global economic topics, including foreign direct investment (FDI) in and from emerging markets and developing economies, central banks' accumulation of foreign exchange reserves, global financial cycles, financial openness and restrictions on cross-border capital flows, exchange rate dynamics, and the Chinese economy from a global perspective.

Dr. Qian holds research positions at several international institutions and universities, including the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), the Hong Kong Institute for Monetary Research (HKIMR), the Santa Cruz Institute for International Economics (SCIIE), the Institute of Empirical Economic Research at the University of Osnabrück in Germany, and the Global Research Unit (GRU) at City University of Hong Kong.
