Research Workshop Funding

HI Research Workshop funding is designed to support interdisciplinary collaborative groups in the humanities, focused on topics or themes that engage multiple humanities-based disciplines.  Research Workshops may include any number of faculty and/or graduate students, focusing on any topic, but they must be interdisciplinary with coordinators based in different departments.

Proposals for new research workshops and renewals of existing groups are now being accepted. The deadline for submissions is June 15, 2025.

For 2026-27, submissions will be due February 15, 2026.

About the Research Workshop Program

The Humanities Institute’s Research Workshops bring together UB faculty and graduate students from diverse disciplines to present research and to explore topics of common intellectual concern. HI provides funding for workshops to sponsor group readings, guest lectures, works-in-progress seminars, and conferences.

Funding levels vary, but the maximum award is $4,000 per year.

This HI program is supported by the UB Vice President for Research and Economic Development.
