Opening next Friday at Squeaky Wheel and on view around our city: Join us on March 22, 6–8 pm for In the Sun’s Absence, a new exhibition by DMS PhD Candidate Jason Livingston, with Phoebe A. Cohen on the occasion of the coming solar eclipse. Featuring both new and existing works by the artist, In the Sun’s Absence asks audiences to contemplate how “in the sun’s absence, we have a chance to notice its significance.” Join us for the opening, with brief remarks by Livingston and Cohen at 7 pm.

Monday, March 11th, the Department of Media Study's PLASMA (Performances, Lectures, And Screenings in Media Art)​presents an IN-PERSON talk and screening by Tomonari Nishikawa  at 6:15 pm EST in the Center for the Arts, Room 112.

Crystal Z. Campbell's new film, Makahiya, is on view on the facade the I.M. Pei designed Everson Museum in Syracuse. Campbell will be in Syracuse for an Artist talk on Thursday, March 21 at 6pm at the Everson Museum Hosmer Auditorium (401 Harrison St, Syracuse, NY 13202). All are welcome to join. 

Akram Shibly (BA '15) has been chosen as one of 2024's Doris Duke Artist Fellows at Sundance. The funding from the Doris Duke foundation aims to propel U.S. Muslim creators, expand access to the entertainment industry and amplify diverse narratives. This is their innaugral year partnering with the Sundance Film Festival, offering this fellowship to a select few filmakers and artists. We are thrilled for Akram to be part of this select group, and are excited to see his work as a fellow. If you'd like to follow along Akram's journey, you can follow his Substack.
