Media Advisory: UB to honor dozens of students at 10th annual Celebration of Student Academic Excellence

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Hundreds of University at Buffalo students and faculty will gather to recognize the scholarly, research and creative achievements of students at the 1oth annual Celebration of Student Academic Excellence.

What: The event will open with poster presentations from more than 200 graduate and undergraduate students who will describe the results of more than 160 varied research projects.

Student research topics range from why athletes become sports legends to silicon nanoparticles, the reliability of capturing sleep diary data using wrist-worn electronic devices and the effect of resistive respiratory muscle training on breathing.

The ceremony will also feature a performance from the musical drama “Les Miserables” by members of the UB student cast. At noon, guests can meet the cast for a glimpse into the theatrical creative process.

When: The event is Wednesday, April 23, from noon to 4 p.m. The best visuals will occur from noon to 2 p.m., when students present their research and creative work.

You may not know: UB students have won several internationally renowned scholarships and awards; they include the Goldwater, Marshall, Truman, Udall and Rhodes scholarships; and Fulbright and National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowships.
