BUFFALO, N.Y. – Faculty members, staff and students from the University at Buffalo will volunteer throughout the City of Buffalo on Saturday, Oct. 25, as part of UB Community Day.

It’s a chance for the university community to give back to the city it loves and to demonstrate UB’s commitment to the neighborhoods around its campuses.

UB volunteers will work hand-in-hand with community residents on a variety of community improvement and neighborhood beautification projects, including cleaning up community gardens and preparing them for winter; cleaning up local streets and parks; and helping paint, clean and organize community centers.

They will meet 9 a.m. at Allen Hall on the UB South Campus before heading out to nearly a dozen locations near UB’s South and Downtown campuses: West Side Neighborhood Housing Services, 359 Connecticut St.; Hispanics United of Buffalo, 254 Virginia St.; New Generations Ministries Center, 97 Doat St.; Custer Street Block Club on Custer Street; Pelion Community Garden and Keep WNY Beautiful, 210 Best St.; Heath Street Block Club, corner of Heath and Merrimack Sts.; Bailey Avenue Business Association and Uptown Theatre, 3163 Bailey Ave.; Edward Saunders Community Center, 2777 Bailey Ave.; Coldspring Bible Chapel, 100 Northland Ave.; NEERV Development, 41 Mulberry St.; and University District Block Club Coalition at Bailey and Dartmouth Aves.

Best time for media: 10:30 a.m. to noon.
