  • David Castillo Earns UB Exceptional Scholar Award

    Professor of Spanish and UB Humanities Institute Director David Castillo will be honored with an Exceptional Scholar Award for Sustained Achievement at UB's annual Celebration of Faculty and Staff Excellence on November 1, 2018.   • RLL 2018 Commencement Celebration Highlights

    RLL honored 2018 Bachelor's and Master's degree recipients with a ceremony and reception at UB's Center for Tomorrow on May 18, 2018.  Paola M. (Giacobbe) Kersch, 2008 UB graduate with a PhD in Hispanic Literature and Culture, and now Associate Professor of Spanish and Director of Foreign Languages at D'Youville College, delivered the commencement address.
  • Sigma Delta Pi Initiation Held May 11, 2018

    Two undergraduate students were inducted into the National Spanish Honor Society Sigma Delta Pi, Beta Nu Chapter, on May 11, 2018. Spanish Major and Class of 2018 graduate Maria Evelyn Alvarenga and Spanish Minor Eunice Mak were welcomed into the chapter with a short ceremony followed by a reception for friends and family. We congratulate Maria and Eunice on their accomplishment! 
  • Pi Delta Phi Inducts Students in Spring Ceremony

    The University at Buffalo Chapter of Pi Delta Phi, the national French Honor Society, formally inducted six undergraduate students as lifetime members during a ceremony May 12, 2018.  Student members must have sophomore standing, completed at least one course of upper-division French (i.e. beyond the intermediate-level series of courses),  and attained a 3.0 GPA in French, a 3.0 GPA overall and ranking in the top 35% of their class. We congratulate all our students on their dedication and hard work!   
  • International Colloquium and Call for Papers Announced
    8/28/18
    The International Colloquium « BUFFALO: Transatlantic Crossroads of a Critical Insurrection » organized by the Humanities Institute and hosted by the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at the University at Buffalo - SUNY will take place on October 18-20, 2018, at the Buffalo Marriott Niagara Hotel near the University's North Campus.  It will will be held concurrently with an exhibit of the documents related to the history and the development of this new intellectual trend in the many humanities Departments at the then “University of Buffalo."
