  • Pi Delta Phi Inducts Students in Spring Ceremony

    The University at Buffalo Chapter of Pi Delta Phi, the national French Honor Society, formally inducted six undergraduate students as lifetime members during a ceremony May 12, 2018.  Student members must have sophomore standing, completed at least one course of upper-division French (i.e. beyond the intermediate-level series of courses),  and attained a 3.0 GPA in French, a 3.0 GPA overall and ranking in the top 35% of their class. We congratulate all our students on their dedication and hard work!   
  • International Colloquium and Call for Papers Announced

    The International Colloquium « BUFFALO: Transatlantic Crossroads of a Critical Insurrection » organized by the Humanities Institute and hosted by the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at the University at Buffalo - SUNY will take place on October 18-20, 2018, at the Buffalo Marriott Niagara Hotel near the University's North Campus.  It will will be held concurrently with an exhibit of the documents related to the history and the development of this new intellectual trend in the many humanities Departments at the then “University of Buffalo."

  • RLL 7th Annual Graduate Student Conference Schedule of Events Announced

    RLL's 7th annual graduate student conference "Spectacular, Spectacular!  Truth, Violence, Politics and Performance," featuring keynote speaker Dr. Kathleen Long of Cornell University, will take place April 27-28, 2018 in Clemens Hall on UB's North Campus.  Please consult the conference program for event details.
  • Alliance Française de Buffalo Holds Annual Excellence in French Competition

    High school French students from across Western New York participated in the annual Excellence in French Studies Competition held at SUNY at Buffalo on Saturday, April 14th. Eighteen committed and motivated students braved cold and stormy weather early on a Saturday morning to complete a rigorous dictée excerpted from Le Petit Prince.  The competition is co-sponsored and funded by the SUNY at Buffalo Melodia Jones Fund Chair.

    Paola M. (Giacobbe) Kersch, Associate Professor of Spanish and Director of Foreign Languages at D'Youville College, will serve as keynote speaker at the annual departmental commencement celebration. The event will take place at 10 am  May 18, 2018, at UB's Center for Tomorrow.
