CONGRATULATIONS!

The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures is thrilled to announce that Dr. Melissa McCarron, Clinical Assistant Professor of Spanish, has recently been awarded a $83K SUNY Innovative Instruction Technology Grant to develop a mobile app with AI conversation support for culturally competent communication across health professions. She will be leading an interdisciplinary team from UB’s School of Social Work, UB School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, SUNY Brockport, and SUNY Upstate Medical.

Dr. McCarron will also be serving as co-investigator on another SUNY IITG Project, “Teaching Social Determinants of Health through Patient Interview and Virtual Simulation,” with faculty from UB’s School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
