Veronica A. Sedota, MEd, holds a Master of Education in Educational Administration with a focus on educational leadership and policy, along with certification in adolescence education, social studies from SUNY, University at Buffalo. She earned a dual Bachelor of Science in history and political science with a minor in international studies from SUNY, College at Brockport, graduating with honors.
Veronica began her career at the University at Buffalo in 2015 as a Business Affairs Assistant at the Educational Opportunity Center, where she managed recruitment and onboarding, payroll transactions, budget management, and event coordination for major programs. In this role, she developed and implemented processes that streamlined administrative tasks and enhanced operational efficiency.
Since 2018, Veronica has served as the Department Administrator for Theatre and Dance, assisting the Chair in strategic planning and overseeing critical departmental operations that support the academic, professional, and service missions of the department. She is responsible for human resources, financial management, academic scheduling, and space management, including faculty and staff recruitment, budget development, expenditure monitoring, and policy compliance. Veronica plays a pivotal role in workforce planning, faculty and staff promotions, and ensuring alignment with the university's goals of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
In her current role, Veronica is the primary contact for human resources matters, including onboarding, employee relations, leave requests, and performance management. She also provides expertise in financial oversight, such as budget reporting, fee management, and procurement processes, including travel reimbursements and independent contractor payments. Additionally, Veronica coordinates department-wide training initiatives and is instrumental in organizing key events and special projects that support the department’s mission and goals.
Veronica serves on the Executive Advisory Committee to the Chair, the Season Selection Committee, the Student Representatives Committee, and the Production Management Committee. She participates in various working groups addressing initiatives such as recruitment, retention, alumni relations, donor and sponsorship engagement, and curriculum planning. Veronica also serves as a Department Representative for the United University Professions (UUP) Buffalo Center Chapter.
Passionate about education, experiential learning, and fostering inclusive spaces, the dedication and accomplishments of the students, faculty, and staff continually inspire Veronica she has worked with at both UBEOC and the Department of Theatre and Dance. Her enthusiasm for lifelong learning extends beyond her professional role, and she actively pursues professional development opportunities.
Veronica is married and a proud mother to two young children, Kennedy and Grant. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, participating in activities with her children, traveling, serving on the Heim Elementary PTA in the Williamsville School District, hosting family gatherings, and cheering on the Buffalo Bills, Sabres, and UB Bulls.
