Kalen Stockton (she/her/hers) is a theatre artist-scholar from Topeka, Kansas. She received her B.A. in Theatre Performance from the University of Kansas and is pursuing her M.A. in Theatre and Performance at the University at Buffalo. While at KU, she worked extensively with devised theatre and dance culminating in an original devised piece about queer joy, Reach!, as part of the Fall 2020 mainstage season. She presented at the 2020 Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas annual conference Hot Topics panel: “Dramaturgical Pedagogy: A Case Study”. In her professional career, she has been active with both the Lawrence Arts Center and Theatre Lawrence in Lawrence, Kansas as a composer/musician, deviser, dancer, actor, and sound designer. Her research interests include devising, performance as research, and pushing the boundaries of what is considered performance.
