Congratulations to MFA Dance candidate Natasha McCandless, who is an award winner for this year’s Excellence in Teaching Award for Graduate Teaching Assistants at the University at Buffalo.

Her exceptional teaching ability, dedication to mentoring and advisement, and commitment to maintaining high academic standards in teaching have set her apart as an outstanding teacher. Her selection culminated in a rigorous nomination and review process, and the resulting award is a testament to her superb and creative performance in the classroom, as well as her unwavering support for the intellectual growth of UB students.

McCandless is the first ever winner of this award from the Department of Theatre and Dance, and the second winner of this award from the Arts departments as a whole over the last decade. She will attend a celebratory luncheon to honor all campus awardees in the Buffalo Room on April 18, 2024.

"I am deeply honored to receive the Excellence in Teaching Award for Graduate Teaching Assistants," McCandless said. "It is a highlight of my graduate career to have my work recognized through such a prestigious channel. My sincere thanks to Dr. Ariel Nereson and Professor Chanon Judson for their nomination, support, and mentorship. I look forward to continuing my career serving students at the undergraduate level."
