Bio

Phil Wackerfuss is a physical performance artist from Chicago, IL. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Arts from Illinois Wesleyan University, and is a licensed massage therapist trained at the Chicago School of Massage Therapy. His Chicago work includes First Folio Shakespeare Festival, VADCO modern dance company, and INASIDE Chicago Jazz Dance. He moved to Buffalo, NY in 2010 to join LehrerDance, where he was a company member for 4 years, travelling nationally and internationally. He is an educator, and was honored to present at the Chicago National Association of Dance Masters Fall 2005 Fall workshop, taught Ballroom Dance at Arthur Murray, and served as an adjunct of Modern and Music Theater dance at SUNY Fredonia. He enjoys working with local Buffalo movement artists and actors, siting on the organizing board for the Buffalo Contact Improv Collective, portrayed Caliban in Shakespeare in Delaware Park’s The Tempest, and annually plays Drosselmeyer in the American Academy of Ballet’s Nutcracker. His spare time is spent spinning Fire with Buffalo’s Pyromancy.
