Junior dance and psychology major Selena Pereyra is a UB Presidential Honor’s Scholar who is very interested in the non-profit side of the performing arts, and who “really wants to bring dance to those who do not have the same chances to experience it as I do.”

An abundance of UB Theatre and Dance faculty, alumni, and students are part of the production team, cast and chorus for Starring Buffalo’s new production of “CATS,” running February 27 – March 1 at Shea’s 710 Theatre in downtown Buffalo, NY. After years of preparation and work, the Zodiaque Dance Company (ZDC) 50 Anniversary Fall concerts will finally take place this week at UB Center for the Arts, beginning Thursday, October 24! In keeping with ZDC’s mission, the fall program features a diverse array of dance styles, including modern, contemporary, jazz, African, tap, and other percussive forms. “A Crack in the Egg” is a new rock musical written by senior UB Music Theatre major Jeremy Ephraim Meyers, with alumna John DellaContrada (‘24 Theatre BFA). Its official premiere won’t be until February 2025 as part of the 2024-2025 Theatre and Dance (THD) production season, but this Sunday, September 15, 2024 audiences can preview the show as a work-in-progress / staged reading at UB Katharine Cornell Theatre on North Campus beginning at 8pm.

Founded in 1974 by University at Buffalo Professor Linda Swiniuch, Zodiaque Dance Company (ZDC) is the region's premier pre-professional dance company. Archival video footage was captured beginning in 1985, presenting the opportunity to revisit 40 years of performances. Enjoy 40 years of dance in only 30 minutes!

We are looking for one actor to join our UBTHD Fall Drama Production of Fabulation or, The Re-Education of Undine. We are excited to welcome another actor into our production, and look forward to meeting anyone who would like to audition! You DO NOT have to be a Theatre & Dance major to audition: you can be undergraduate or graduate, and you can have extensive experience or just want to try this out because it sounds interesting! 

As we begin a new academic year, the Department of Theatre and Dance is pleased and excited to welcome new faculty members, as well as to announce the promotion of current instructors. 2024-2025 also represents the department's third year under the leadership of Eero Laine.

Every year, each College of Arts and Sciences department selects a graduating senior who has demonstrated exceptional diligence and promise during their time at the University at Buffalo. These students’ efforts have distinguished them among their peers and set an inspiring example of academic and personal achievement. In recognition of their accomplishments, each student receives a certificate and an engraved award.

Several Theatre and Dance (THD) students were recognized for their achievements at UB’s annual Celebration of Student Academic Excellence on May 2 in Alumni Arena.
