2026 WNY High School TEACHERS SHOW Art Exhibition

Open Call: "Winter Blues" theme

1 artwork per teacher will be accepted.

The theme "Winter Blues" is correlated with the time of year in which this exhibition is being held, in a snowy place like Buffalo, New York.  As educators, high school art teachers have a unique role in our community, of not just making it "through" winter, but fostering creative activity in the midst of what many people consider the most challenging season of the year.

All interpretations of the theme are welcome.

Call To WNY Art Teachers

UB's Department of Art is hosting a 2nd exhibition of Western New York High School TEACHERS' artworks.

This exhibition will run concurrent (but shorter duration) with our annual Western New York High School Student Art Exhibtion. The young artists of our region are inspired and well-instructed by incredible local artists who have dedicated their time and creative energies to education. We would like to honor and admire these teachers, by showcasing some of their work.

Eligibility

  • Any fine art and design; 2D, 3D, and digital media, can be submitted, size limit: 36 inches maximum for any dimension.
  • Open to all art teachers at a K-12 school. We are focusing on high school art teachers since our contacts list contains those, and this show will be in sequence with our WNYHS Student Art Exhibtion, immediately following this Teachers show in our Lower Gallery.
  • Teacher (Artists) self-nominate and currier work-- must instruct at a high school within Western New York.
  • Limit of 1 work per artist.

ENTRY

Deadline: Sat. 1/10/2026, 3PM

Self-Nominating Submission Form

Art, design, and technology teachers nominate their own work, and are responsible for delivering and retrieving those works from the  Center for the Arts, on UB North Campus. See more info on right.

The following artwork information form must be completed digitally, in addition to the artwork tag (see below) to be attached physically to delivered works.

Artwork Entry Tag

Please fill out the PDF below and attach the corresponding information securely to each artwork for drop-off. It is extremely important that all the information is complete, legible and firmly attached to the works.

Thank you!

Preparing Work for Drop-off
  1. Print and fill out the Artwork Entry Tag and securely attach to each your work. All works must have the top side clearly marked.
  2. Frames are highly encouraged for 2D works. Works submitted on a backing board must be securely attached (we have found double stick tapes and tape in general does not often hold up over the life of the show).
  3. All works that are wall mounted should have stable hardware for hanging or margins so the work may be displayed with exhibition pins or magnets.
  4. All free standing 3D work should be able to stand on its' own whether on a pedestal or the floor.
  5. Unique methods of display are welcome, however please provide written instructions, photos, or diagrams on how it is to be displayed attached to the piece.
  6. Video work may be submitted on a USB-A thumb drive. We have TV screens and projectors that we will use to display.
