Joint Major in Linguistics

Overview

Joint major degrees are available in all other tracks, and require 24 Linguistics credit hours. The joint major often combines Linguistics with another Social Science (e.g. AnthropologyCommunicative Disorders and SciencesPsychology), or with English or a Modern Language in a joint or double major program.

Acceptance Criteria

Permission of the Directors of Undergraduate Studies from both participating departments; minimum 2.0 overall GPA; minimum 2.5 GPA in LIN 205 and 207

Current Students: Request to Add/Change to the Joint Major in Linguistics BA

Submit the CAS Major/Minor Change Request form to request one of the following changes to your academic plan:

  • Add a major, minor, or certificate in the College of Arts and Sciences
  • Drop any major
  • Drop any minor

Degree Requirements

  • Core Linguistics courses (12 credits): LIN 205LIN 207LIN 301LIN 302
  • Four additional Linguistics courses to be chosen in consultation with the Director of Undergraduate Studies
