Linguistics Degrees

Linguistics is the scientific study of the function and structure of language, and is concerned with language as a general aspect of human knowledge and behavior.

The current requirements for the general Linguistics BA can be found in the course catalog.

Prior to Fall 2021, the Department of Linguistics offered three general linguistics concentrations in Applied LinguisticsLanguage and Cognition; and Language, Society, and Communication, as well as two honors tracks in Language Structure and Theory and Language and Cognition. We list information about these requirements here for students who enrolled in those conentrations before Fall 2021 and would like to follow the old requirements.
