This form will serve as your application to the music department's degree programs and, if required, your means of scheduling an audition. If the program you're interested in requires an audition, you should submit this form at least one week prior to the audition date.

Double Degree

If you wish to pursue a Double Degree, you must also complete the Double Degree Form and return it to the departmental advisor in both degree programs.

Dual degree students (e.g., BS + BA) are required to complete 150 credits.

Music Education

If you are interested in combining the MusB major with a degree in music education, please list "music education" as one of the "other majors" you plan to pursue at UB.

Musical Background

Briefly detail your musical background. 

Please provide a statement (600 words maximum) that describes why you wish to study music in the UB Department of Music. In your statement, and in no particular order, please discuss the following elements:

  • Your goals for studying music at UB
  • Your musical interests, experiences, and influences
  • Your professional/career objectives

We recommend that you let your references know they have been listed and may be contacted for additional information, though it is not guaranteed they will be contacted. Academic teachers and/or private music teachers (e.g. people who can speak to your academic strengths) are recommended. Please note that this is not a recommendation letter requirement.

 

Audition Information

If you are pursuing the MusB, BA, or either of the performance minorrs, please complete the form below.  

In-person auditions are encouraged, but video auditions are accepted. If you plan to send a video recording of your audition, select an audition date below, and email Mary McCarthy with your video audition by that date.
