This form is your official application to the Department of Music’s degree programs. If your chosen program requires an audition, submitting this form also serves as your audition sign-up.

Important: Please submit your application and select your audition time at least one week before your audition date.

What to expect

After you submit your form (below), you’ll get a confirmation email with next steps. On audition day, arrive at least 15 minutes early to check in.

* Students wishing to minor in jazz will also need to audition and be accepted into the jazz ensemble.  Sign up for jazz ensemble auditions are posted at the start of each semester outside Baird 220.

Thinking About a Double Degree?

If you're planning to complete a Double Degree, you'll need to fill out the Double Degree Checklist and return it to the advisor for each department.

Heads-up: Dual degree students must complete at least 150 credits.

Interested in Music Education?

UB’s Music Education program combines performance studies (lessons and ensemble work) with a master’s in education. Once you graduate, you’ll be eligible to teach in New York State K–12 schools—no waiting, no extra steps.

Audition Information

All students should prepare 2–3 contrasting selections that show your range and strengths. Not sure what to play or sing? Check out our audition requirements to feel confident and prepared.

Voice applicants: Accompaniment is required. Please contact Michael Serio in advance so we can match you with a pianist.

Instrumental applicants: No accompaniment is needed. Just bring your instrument, your music, and your best performance.

Prospective majors who are unable to attend an in-person audition may submit a video audition instead. You'll still need to submit this form.
