The Department of Music, in collaboration with the Graduate School of Education, offers an innovative five-year combined Bachelor’s and Master’s program in Music Education. This streamlined pathway allows students to earn New York State certification in music education while building expertise in music performance and pedagogy.

This program leverages the strengths of UB Teach, a proven foundation of teaching excellence across the College of Arts and Sciences. Students gain:

  • Deep Expertise: Develop advanced skills in music performance alongside comprehensive training in teaching methodologies.
  • Streamlined Certification: Prepare for both Initial and Professional Certification in New York State.
  • Practical Experience: Engage in coursework and student teaching that bridges theory and practice, ensuring readiness for the classroom.

How to Get Started

  • Undergraduate Preparation: Students interested in the combined program are encouraged to apply for the MusB Performance Major.
