Chris Isaak to Perform at UB Dec. 8

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The University at Buffalo Center for the Arts welcomes Chris Isaak on Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the Mainstage Theatre in the Center for the Arts, UB North Campus.

Over the course of Isaak's career, he has released nine extraordinary albums, 12 singles, been nominated for two Grammy awards, appeared in several motion pictures and starred in his own critically acclaimed TV series. His legendary shows with his longtime band, Silvertone, have entertained tens of thousands of people for over two decades. Even his hair has its own fan club. Throughout his impressive recording career, Isaak has tunefully and artfully explored the good, the bad and the ugly aspects of love, as well as other matter of profound human interest. He has done so with an abiding respect for popular music's past, but at the same time with a clear and vital passion for the here and now.

Isaak grew up in the town of Stockton, Calif., as the son of a forklift operator. He taught himself how to play guitar and started writing songs as a teenager, finding early inspiration from musicians such as Hank Williams, Elvis Presley and Roy Orbison. His 1989 album, Heart Shaped World, became a hit on the Billboard charts and earned Isaak widespread fame. Now an accomplished musician and actor, Isaak maintains a vigorous touring schedule, stars in critically acclaimed films and released his latest album, Mr. Lucky, in 2009. Most recently, he began hosting The Chris Isaak Hour, a brand new music interview series on the Biography Channel.
