BUFFALO, N.Y. – Frank Clement (BS ’66) hasn’t let a distance of 2,600 miles keep him from remaining close to the University at Buffalo.

A native of Silver Creek, New York, Clement worked at Eastman Kodak before moving in 1973 to Seattle, Washington, where he stayed connected to the university by helping to build a strong alumni presence in the region.

The UB Alumni Association will present its highest honor, the Samuel P. Capen Award, to Clement during its annual awards ceremony at 6 p.m. May 5 in the UB Center for the Arts. UB President Satish K. Tripathi and Mary Garlick Roll (MS ’88, BS ’84), alumni association president, will present 11 awards at the event. Tickets may be purchased online at www.alumni.buffalo.edu/events or by calling 1-800-284-5382.

Clement moved to become a financial advisor for Paine Webber in Seattle; in 2002, he retired from the company, now UBS Financial Services, as the vice president of investments.  He’s also served on the boards of Red Hook Ale Brewery and Caravali Coffees, the wholesale division of Starbucks.

During his decades in the Northwest, Clement hosted alumni events under then UB presidents William Greiner and John Simpson, served on the national alumni board and became a member of the UB School of Management dean’s advisory council. He and his wife gave to the school to create the Frank and Marilyn Clement Undergraduate Community Hub and the Clement Café.
