UB Provost Receives Honorary Degree from Institute in India

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Satish K. Tripathi, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at the University at Buffalo, has received an honorary doctor of science degree (D.Sc.) from the Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad in Allahabad, India.

Tripathi received the institute's highest degree on Aug. 12 during its third convocation program, where he addressed students about information technology and the value of education to the individual as well as society.

The Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad was established in 1999 by the government of India as a center of excellence in information technology.

Tripathi is a resident of Amherst.
