BS in Psychology, UB;
PhD Student, Cognitive Psychology

My time as a Psychology major at UB was amazing. There was a lot of opportunity to get involved in things like research in addition to very helpful classes. I worked in multiple labs. I even had the opportunity to conduct my own research through the Psychology Honors Program, which led to an authorship on a research manuscript.

UB Psychology is the main reason that I was admitted to a Cognitive Psychology PhD program. Without the rigorous coursework, I would not have had the skills to pursue this path. Also, the support that I received from the faculty was unbelievably amazing. In a school with so many students, the Psychology Department at UB felt close-knit and supportive.

The UB Psychology major provided me with many skills that are useful for people entering a range of different markets. It is a good choice for those interested in pursuing a career in psychology, but also a variety of paths, including medicine, law, marketing, etc. My BS in Psychology has opened up a new world for me. I would advise anyone interested in this major to utilize all of the resources that are available. Even if you do not want to pursue a career in research, working in a research lab is a good way to gain a supportive group of people to aid you in your future endeavors or expose you to some new inspiration for your future goals. UB Psychology was a strong foundation that has helped me achieve goals that I thought were beyond my reach, and I could not be more grateful.
