“My time at UB was invaluable to my development as a neuroscientist. I entered UB as a business major without any real sense of what I wanted to do with my life. After struggling for a year, I found a home in the Department of Psychology. My most fulfilling and formative experience at UB involved conducting an independent research study as part of the Psychology Honors Program. Notably, the program featured wonderfully supportive and caring mentorship that not only helped refine my ideas—it has become the foundation of my own mentorship to the next generation of students. The best advice I can offer is to take on a challenge. For me that challenge was research, but for you it may be something else entirely. The point is to step outside of your comfort zone. In doing so, you will not only develop new skill sets, but you will learn about your own capacity to rise to the occasion.” – Mykel Robble
