Current Research

My research examines attitudes and attitude change, with a particular emphasis on metacognitive, motivational, and interpersonal processes. For example, one line of research examines people’s desire to change their own attitudes, including when and why people may want different attitudes and the means they use to pursue this change. Another line of research examines how our attitudes affect and are affected by our interpersonal interactions. Finally, my work examines psychological processes that predict whether a given mental content will be “strong” (i.e., show stability and impact judgment/behavior), and examine these processes across domains (attitudes, the self, emotions).
