“I had a wonderful time as a Psychology major at UB! I was so well prepared for graduate school, thanks to writing research proposals for my UB psychology classes, working in research labs, and especially having taken part in the Psychology Honors Program. My graduate advisors and professors were impressed with my understanding of academic writing/reading and knowledge. My first piece of advice for psychology majors is to get involved. Join the Undergraduate Psychology Association or Psi Chi—The International Honor Society in Psychology, or join a research lab. Also, don’t be afraid if you don’t know exactly what you want to do or what interests you. I didn’t figure out I wanted to do Industrial/Organizational Psychology until the middle of my senior year. I also strongly recommend taking part in the Psychology Honors Program, even if you don’t want to do research for the rest of your life. The skills you learn are applicable to any job or future track.” – Nicole Hunter
