Founded in 1929, Psi Chi exists to encourage and recognize strong scholarship and to advance the field of psychology.

Membership

Psi Chi is open to undergraduate and graduate psychology students who meet the eligibility requirements. Once inducted, your membership is recorded permanently with the Psi Chi International Office. You can proudly list this honor on graduate school, scholarship and job applications.

As a member, you’ll:

Receive a membership certificate worthy of framing
Be eligible to wear Psi Chi emblems like key pins, charms, lapel pins and graduation regalia
Join a respected organization affiliated with the American Psychological Association (APA), the Association for Psychological Science (APS) and the Association of College Honor Societies.
Access programs at regional and national psychology association meetings
Gain a sense of community and shared identity with others in the discipline

💵 Membership Fee: $65 (one-time)

Membership Criteria

For Psychology Majors:

Must be a declared Psychology major
Completed PSY 101, PSY 207 and PSY 350
Psychology GPA: 3.4+
Overall GPA: 3.1+

For Psychology Minors:

Must be a declared Psychology minor
Completed at least 9 credits toward the minor
Psychology GPA: 3.4+
Overall GPA: 3.1+

How to apply

Psi Chi inducts members twice each year, once in fall and once in spring. To join, complete both applications and meet all criteria by the deadline.

Start your application through the Psi Chi International portal. Select the University at Buffalo, The State University of NY chapter before submitting.
