Fast-track your social work career

The combined Health and Human Services and Social Work degree prepares you to improve the lives of individuals, families and communities. You'll build a foundation in human behavior and community services before advancing into graduate social work education, where you'll gain specialized knowledge and field experience for professional practice.

Program highlights

  •  Complete both your bachelor's and master's degrees in five-years (3+2), one year less than the traditional route
  • Choose between a concentration in Child and Family Studies, Community Mental Health or Social Gerontology before continuing into the MSW program
  • Develop research and program evaluation skills while completing internships or other applied experiences that strengthen your graduate school preparation
  • Complete supervised field education through the MSW program, with practicum opportunities available across UB's network of more than 600 partner agencies

Application process

Students apply to the undergraduate and graduate portions of the programs separately. Students may apply to the Social Work graduate program during their junior year, but must complete the BA in Health and Human Services before starting the MSW during their senrior year. 

Acceptance to the Health and Human Services major does not guarantee admission to the 3+2 program. Admission is highly competitive.
