Zoom is an easy-to-use video communication platform with video conferencing, recording, phone, chat and screen sharing. Zoom is available to all UB students, faculty and staff.
Zoom is an essential tool for conducting an online course that integrates with UB Learns for easy access by instructors and students. Zoom can also be used for hybrid courses or to host virtual guests during your class. Here are a few resources to start using Zoom in your classes.

You can join an online meeting through an email invite, an instant messaging invite, from the browser, from the Zoom desktop and mobile application, from a landline or mobile phone, or with an H.323 or SIP device. If students in your class require captions as a disability accommodation, have the student contact Accessibility Resources. Accessibility Resources will notify you of documented accommodations you can enter in your class or use with the integrated tools.
The host of a Zoom meeting can turn on live, automated transcription of a meeting.
Use the transcription request form to submit your information to assist you with your closed captioning/transcription on your UB Panopto or Zoom video.
After you submit the transcription request form, you will receive a notification about how to upload your video to a Box folder. If you have any questions, please contact Jay Stockslader, Director of Online Learning and Continuing Education in the College of Arts and Sciences.
This service is for general transcription of your class, presentation or workshop video. If you have students needing transcription services specifically for accessibility, please contact Accessibility Resources. Accessibility Resources may be able to fund the outsourcing of closed captioning/transcription of your class videos.
We can only assist your class with UB Panopto or Zoom class videos for educational purposes.
Videos submitted for this closed captioning/transcription service must be for continuous viewing or used multiple times for educational purposes.
