  • Spring 2023 Spanish 152 students present oral histories projects
    This spring 2023 the SPA152 students have been working all semester long on an Oral History project, where they have had the opportunity to interview a number of people from the local community, family members, and friends in order to investigate topics related to immigration and identity.
  • Students Welcomed into Pi Delta Phi, National French Honor Society
    Sixteen UB students were welcomed into the Pi Delta Phi National French Honor Society for the 2022-2023 academic year. Pi Delta Phi recognizes outstanding scholarship in and support of the languages, literatures, and cultures of the French-speaking world.
  • Two RLL Graduates win 2023 Fulbright Scholarships
    RLL graduating senior and Presidential Scholar Emma Correia and RLL alum Alivia Smeltzer-Darling have won Fulbright awards to continue their studies abroad. Correia graduates in May with a double major in Spanish and linguistics;. Smeltzer-Darling is a 2021 graduate with a double major in Spanish and health and human services.
  • RLL Spanish Teaching Assistant Jamison García Ramírez wins 2023 Excellence in Teaching award
    Jamison García Ramírez was one of seven Graduate Teaching Assistants honored April 20, 2023, at an award luncheon in the Buffalo Room. This annual Graduate School award recognizes graduate students who have demonstrated exceptional performance in the execution of their teaching responsibilities.

    RLL announces the Fall 2021 Melodia E. Jones Endowed Chair Seminar Series "Rethinking Universalism in 21st Century France." Organized by Visiting Melodia E. Jones Endow Chair Mame-Fatou Niang, the seminar seeks to define universalism à la française, to think about its futures and forms in the 21st century.
