2025-2026 Audition Dates

Consideration for the BFA Theatre Design/Technology degree program is by Interview/Appointment on the dates below, plus on a rolling basis. If you are unable to schedule an interview on one the listed dates, please contact Professor Catherine Norgren directly at: norgren@buffalo.edu.

Saturday, November 8, 2025 @ 9am - 1pm

Saturday, February 28, 2026 @ 9am - 2pm
 (Location: University at Buffalo Center for the Arts, North Campus)

Saturday, March 28, 2026 @ 9am - 2pm
 (Location: University at Buffalo Center for the Arts, North Campus)

Saturday, January 17, 2026 @ 9am - 2pm
 (Location: Pearl Studios, New York, NY)

SETC Conference: March 4-7, 2026 @ Chattanooga, TN

Required Materials

  • Resume
  • Letter of Intent outlining your interest in Theatre Design/Production, as well as your specific interest to the University at Buffalo
  • Portfolio (Hard copy or digital) with samples of work that may include but are not limited to:
    • Production photos
    • Documentation of pieces designed or built for production
    • Designs from other disciplines (fashion, architecture, etc.)
    • Samples of drafting
    • Drawing/painting skills
    • Fine artwork 
    • Photography
    • Paperwork used to manage a project
    • Anything you feel is relevant to the study of theatre, design, technology, stage management, and collaborative work
  • Letters of Recommendation
    • Two letters are required, preferably discussing your work in Design and Technology
  • Interview with Design/Technology faculty
