Please review the audition requirements below and submit the required materials for consideration of admission to this program.

Audition Application:  

Please prepare the following information below before registering for auditions:

• Contact information.
• Date you wish to register for.
• Resume: include training history and production/performance experience.
• Two reference letters: include recommender’s contact information
• Career Goal Statement: 1-page statement about why you want to major in Music Theatre, why you are considering UB, and your long-term goals in the field.
• Headshot
• Audition Fee: $30*

*Prospective students who receive a fee waiver for the university application process are exempt from this charge.

Please come dressed to dance. The dance call will take place first thing in the morning. Auditionees will then have time to change clothes before presenting their songs and monologue.

Prepare two contrasting songs from the standard Music Theatre repertoire, not longer than 32 bars in length.

• Please bring sheet music for your songs, a pianist will be provided. Music must be in the candidate’s key.

Monologue:

• Age-appropriate serious or comedic monologue from a classic or contemporary play.
• Monologues must be one minute or less.

Dance call, led by UB Dance program faculty.

• Please bring dance attire that you can move in and that allows us to clearly see your dancing.
• Be prepared to dance in flat jazz shoes or ballet shoes. Character shoes are optional and not required.
