All 2021-2022 Music Theatre auditions are offered in-person at the University at Buffalo Center for the Arts (North Campus). All candidates and their accompanying family must adhere to current UB COVID-19 Guidelines at the time of the auditions.
Video submissions will be considered if students are unable to attend in-person. See audition requirements below. All audition materials must be submitted by Friday, March 18th, 2022.
All candidates submitting video auditions should plan on attending an online Zoom Information Session with current UB Music Theatre students and Music Theatre Area Director Alison D’Amato on Thursday, January 27th, 2022, from 4-5pm. Please register for the Information Session by contacting us at: td-theatredance@buffalo.edu.
UB Theatre and Dance is committed to providing you with a full audition experience while keeping you safe. All 2021-2022 Music Theatre auditions are in-person at the University at Buffalo, Center for the Arts (North Campus). All auditions and their accompanying family must adhere to UB Covid guidelines in place at the time of the auditions (masks, etc.).

Audition Application:
Please prepare the following information below before registering for auditions:
*Prospective students who receive a fee waiver for the university application process are exempt from this charge.
Prepare two contrasting songs from the standard Music Theatre repertoire, not longer than 32 bars in length. (No “American Idol” style pop, rock, etc.)
Monologue:
Dance call, led by member(s) of the UB Dance department
Prepare two contrasting songs from the standard Music Theatre repertoire, not longer than 32 bars in length. (No “American Idol” style pop, rock, etc.) All singing must be accompanied by either an in-person accompanist or a pre-recorded accompaniment track. Karaoke tracks are acceptable, as long as the only vocals heard are by the auditioner.
Monologue:
Dance video: A 1-2 minute video of choreographed movement, recorded in a dance studio or similarly spacious room. This can be an original piece of choreography, or an excerpt from a musical or dance performance in which you participated. The piece should represent dance styles typically found in Music Theatre canon, including jazz, ballet, tap, hip-hop, ballroom, etc. Wear shoes you can move in, and clothing that shows clean lines. Your full body should be in view at all times.
