Campus Police: To report alarms or other emergenies

716-645-2222

Most Importantly — Be Here, On Time

You are responsible for getting your shifts covered. If you know ahead of time that you will miss a shift, use our Discord channel and try to get coverage.

If you cannot get coverage, and missing the shift is unavoidable, contact Dom ASAP. The lab will need to close during that time.

If you leave more than one shift uncovered, your position may be terminated.

Please submit your timesheets on time. Late submissions will result in delayed payment.

Personal Safety

  • Know your 5-digit door code and the alarm code _ _ _ _
  • Don’t share the codes.
  • Don’t work alone at night.
  • Don’t prop open any doors, nor leave the lab unattended.
  • The alarm protects all rooms 136–146 (except 138 & 144.)

Emergency Alarms: Everyone must vacate the building during an emergency alarm. The back door is the nearest exit. Make sure everyone exits the lab, and close/lock the door behind you. Do not reenter the building until given the "all clear" by an authorized staff member.

Lab Security & Maintenance

  • Don’t leave the lab unattended. There must always be a lab monitor, faculty, or grad in the room at all times. If you must leave, put another monitor or faculty person in charge, or else close the lab.
  • At the start of your shift, walk around the room.
  • Make sure all computers, monitors, keyboards and mice are in place.
  • Push in chairs, pick up trash & recyclables.
  • Use disinfectant on tabletops, keyboards and mouses as needed, and encourage students to do the same.
  • Ask Dom for special screen cleaner as needed.

Printers

Printers are for GD/AT artwork only. Text documents and work not related to GD/AT should be printed in a public computing space such as in Lockwood, or at the WEPA Kiosk in the CFA basement by the entrance to the Alumni Arena tunnel.

Only lab supplied papers should be used. If you see anyone with their own paper, or hear someone opening trays inside the room, stop them immediately. Using other than lab-supplied paper can seriously damage the printer.

Please send jobs to Tray 2 to use the less expensive paper if you are not in need of higher quality images.

If the printer reports a jam, follow the onscreen instructions to clear the jam. Be careful not to touch the hot parts.

If print jobs are not emerging, make sure the student specified the correct paper size: 8.5x11 (letter) or 11x17 (tabloid.)

If the Job Status reports "Invalid Accounting ID" the user has not entered their ID in the Printing dialog, or enetered it incorrectly.

If the Job Status reports "Insuficient Quota Allocation," the student has exceeded their quota and must contact Dom to continue to print.

First Aid, Emergencies

  • A First Aid kit is located in 142A. Let Dom know if you use something from it so it can be reordered.
