Activities over the weekend 9/23/23

Walk4Hearing 2023.
Speak Out!

The graduate and undergraduate students in the Department of Communication Disorders and Sciences participated in two fundraisers over the weekend.

We are very proud of their dedication and hard work on the part of our communities!

THANK YOU STUDENTS!

Parkinson's Moving Day to benefit the Parkinson's Foundation

Laura Roberts and graduate students in the speech-language pathology program volunteered at the event with set-up and tear down. They also provided a demonstration of SpeakOut!, one of the treatment programs offered at the UB Audiology and Speech Clinic, to a large crowd of people with Parkinson's disease and their families. Many of our graduate students also walked to raise money for the Parkinson's Foundation. Overall, they raised $945.00 (an increase over the $700 raised last year).

At the same event, Dr. Chris Heffner along with his undergraduate and graduate students recruited participants for studies in the department. This was only one weekend stop for the Heffner lab. They were out on Sunday at the Museum of Science collecting data for their studies on site from patrons of the museum.

Walk4Hearing to support the Hearing Loss Association of America

Our Audiology graduate students participated in this event. The students volunteered at the event, helping with set-up, booths, and tear down.

They also participated in the walk to raise money for the event. They raised $1,099 this year.
